A good way to promote your site submit its link to be including in a free directory. I recommend choosing only 3 quality directories and submitting your site. The idea is not to spam every internet directory with your website link but build quality links to your site.
Watch out for dodgy directories where you have to pay to submit. It has been found that there are directories out there who list company/blog websites, then pack up and move to the next scam internet directory. A simple way around this is to just submit your site to quality directories that are free and get there monies from long-term established advertising revenue.
Here is a list of 100 free internet directories with a short description, alexa, google and Yahoo listings. If you are building a blog into a niche industry try this. Alternatively, if your blog targets your local region try this. Also, try submitting to some of the 168 free english directories updated regularly and if it’s Espanol try here. Finally, if you place a link on your site pointing to theirs you can submit a reciprocal link.
By placing links to your blog in directories people either search and find you or go through a directory and find you. It is a sure way to get a little bit of traffic in especially early on in your blogging career.
